Suffolk University Law School Second Annual Intellectual Property & Innovation Conference

  • September 25, 2019

Suffolk University Law School will host its Second Annual Intellectual Property & Innovation Conference on October 29-30, 2019, where Lando & Anastasi Partner Craig Smith will participate in a panel discussion on patent opinions: “The Use of Non-Infringement Opinions to Avoid Enhanced Damages. What’s Happened to Post-Halo and What is the Value of Pre-Litigation Opinions?” Craig will join panelists Tom Brown, Senior Legal Director of Dell Technologies, and David Schuler, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel at Bose Corporation, in a discussion on how a well-executed opinion can protect your company, products, and in-house counsel. The panel will be moderated by Loletta Darden, Assistant Clinical Professor and Director of the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Clinic at Suffolk University.

Focused on IP and innovation, the Conference will explore what motivates innovators and how the law impacts discoveries, creativity, and the sharing of new ideas, technologies and inventions through a series of panels and discussions.

About Suffolk Law School

Founded in 1906 in the historic Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston, Suffolk Law features one of the pre-eminent part-time/evening law school offerings, as well as a full-time program. Its graduates have achieved extraordinary professional success in careers ranging from private practice and in-house counsel to governmental and judicial service. Many use their degrees to succeed in related fields such as business, education, and finance.

Suffolk is the only law school in the country with four top-20 ranked legal skills specialties–clinics, dispute resolution, legal writing, and trial advocacy–in U.S. News & World Report for four years in a row (2017-20 editions). And in 2018, National Jurist named Suffolk Law as the top law school in the nation in legal technology.
