D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University Lean Design for Startups Course
On April 19th, the Spring 2024 cohort of the Lean Design for Startups course presented their medical device innovations to a panel of experts including L&A partner, Nicole Palmer.
Led by D’Amore-McKim School of Business Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Stephen L. Golden, MBA, EdD, each semester a cohort of NU students identify market opportunities and develop a solution that they believe fulfills a market need. The teams had fourteen weeks to identify a problem within the personal health care category, propose and vet a solution, build a prototype, and test it with end users. The final presentations included the prototype, supporting research, a complete business plan, and the opportunity to present in front of industry experts.
Spring 2024 team projects in the personal health category included personalized CPAP tubing, a connected food allergy bracelet for children, a sensor-equipped cast for children, a fluid monitor for hospitals, a digitized inhaler, a revolutionary antihistamine application, a bracelet that connects directly to EMTs for help in large venues, and the world’s “first” portable foot massage sandal.
