Overview
Ricky is an Associate in L&A’s Electronics, Computer Software & Technology, and Artificial Intelligence groups where he advises clients on a range of intellectual property matters, with a particular emphasis on patent prosecution. With a strong technical background in electrical engineering and computer science, Ricky can communicate efficiently with inventors and assist clients with IP matters related to complex computing systems, electromechanical devices, computer architecture, power supply, software applications, cloud computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and related areas.
Prior to joining L&A, Ricky worked at law firms in Minneapolis, MN and Atlanta, GA, where he gained experience in all aspects of patent prosecution, including domestic and foreign patent applications, prior art searches, patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, and inventor and Examiner interviews. He has also advised clients on transactional matters, including software licensing agreements, and supported litigation teams in trademark infringement investigations.
Ricky holds a B.Sc. in Neuroscience with a Minor in English from the University of Minnesota, an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, and a J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Committed to supporting innovation and advocating for the rights of inventors and entrepreneurs, Ricky is a member of the Inventors Assistance Program (“IAP”), a subsection of the multi-state affected LegalCORPS. Through the IAP, Ricky provides pro bono counsel to low-income inventors in the Midwest who are seeking to patent their inventions with the USPTO.
He is a native Hindi speaker and speaks conversational French.
