Fashion photographer Tamara Williams accuses Society19 Media of posting a number of her photographs on its website, www.society19.com. The website, which is designed to provide digital marketing services targeted towards millennials and college students, invites users to submit articles to the site. Williams asserts that, despite this, Society19 exercises discretion and control over what ultimately gets published, including the phtographs that appear on the site. A number of the pages displaying the photographs had descriptive text that linked to advertisements for makeup or the like. Society19 has ignored Williams’ cease and desist demands, leading to the lawsuit.
