Lando & Anastasi, LLP (L&A) is pleased to announce Kevin Eckert, Benjamin Coughlin, and Elizabeth Kolar have joined the firm.
Electronics and Computer Technology and Software
Kevin Eckert joins the firm as an Associate in the Electronics and Computer Technology and Software industry groups and a member of the Litigation practice. Prior to joining L&A, Kevin was an associate at a Virginia law firm where he handled civil litigation matters for mid-sized regional businesses. Kevin was a Thurgood Marshall scholar at the George Washington School of Law where he also was a member of the GW’s International Law Review. Kevin brings specialized knowledge in computer development and design, and communication systems and processor design to his patent prosecution work with L&A. Kevin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from George Mason University and his Bachelor of the Arts degree in English from Case Western Reserve University. His prior experience includes work on a Mitre-funded project to develop ultra-lightweight systems for small helium blimps, including the development of an automated buoyancy system that incorporated both sensors and ballast elements.

Life Sciences
Elizabeth Kolar, Ph.D., joins the Life Sciences group as a Technology Specialist. Liz has experience drafting patent applications, freedom to operate, competitive landscape, and patentability analyses. She earned her Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Biophysics and Physiology at Boston University School of Medicine. Her doctoral research focused on understanding the role of fatty acid metabolism and related enzymes in the metastasis of Grade IV brain cancer. Liz is enrolled at Suffolk University School of Law and is expected to receive her Juris Doctor in 2023. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Salisbury University. Prior to joining L&A, Liz was a technology specialist in the Boston office of a national law firm.
Benjamin Coughlin, Ph.D., joins the Life Sciences group as a Technology Specialist. Ben received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Tufts University where his thesis focused on the biological effects in radiosensitization by high-Z nanomaterials. Prior to joining L&A, Ben worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Division of Hematology/Oncology. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Physics from Middlebury College. Ben has experience in quantum chemistry, electromagnetic theory, surface chemistry, inorganic chemistry and experimental physics.
