Lando & Anastasi, LLP Welcomes Two New Legal Professionals to the Firm

Lando & Anastasi, LLP (L&A) is pleased to announce the addition of Joseph W. DePalma, Ph.D. as a Patent Agent in the firm’s Chemical & Material Sciences group and Maria A. DeCicco RePass, Ph.D. as a Technology Specialist in the firm’s Life Sciences group.

“We are excited to have Joe working with us,” commented L&A co-founding partner Peter Lando. “His expertise in physical chemistry combined with his experience with biotechnology and medical device companies make Joe a valuable addition to our Chemical & Material Sciences group.”

Joseph W. DePalma, Ph.D. brings substantial expertise in physical and analytical chemistry, chemical physics, electronics, software programming and metal fabrication techniques to his practice at L&A. His Ph.D. research focused on global climate change and atmospheric aerosols, and he has deep technical expertise in vibrational spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, computational/theoretical chemistry, and the design and development of analytical instrumentation. Joe has authored and co-authored original research articles in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, Journal of American Chemical Society, and the Journal of Chemical Physics. Prior to joining L&A, Joe was a patent agent at a boutique IP law firm.

“Maria’s background in molecular biochemistry and prior patent experience add to the depth of our Life Sciences practice,” said Diana Collazo, a partner and member of the firm’s Life Sciences group. “We are pleased to welcome her as we continue to expand our team to meet increasing client needs.”

Maria A. DeCicco RePass, Ph.D. has a background in molecular biochemistry, parasitology, and immunology. Her Ph.D. thesis was centered around characterizing potential therapeutic targets for the waterborne parasite, Cryptosporidium, and investigating host-parasite interactions using a novel bioengineered 3D human intestinal model. She has prior experience as a technology specialist at a boutique IP law firm where she prepared patent applications for a variety of clients, including early-stage and established biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Maria has performed freedom to operate, patentability, and due diligence analyses on client and competitor portfolios and she has assisted in the prosecution of patent applications in the US and abroad. She has experience in contributing to global prosecution strategies as well as regular competitive intelligence monitoring.
